That’s the question after Seong Gi-hun, a.k.a Player 456, beats the first season of Squid Game on Netflix and then rejoins the deadly game to put an end once and for all to this ruthless game where Koreans bet their lives.
Asked at one point in the official trailer that dropped on Tuesday why he’s back in the arena, Player 456, played by Lee Jung-jae, declares “I’m trying to put an end to this game.”

Just as we see the show, all the participants invited to the Squid Game are those who are actually on the fringes of society, or rather, those who actually can only be on the periphery of society because they are in debt and cannot pay their debts.
As we continue to watch and play Squid Game and learn those but the winner must die for this amount of money, it feels all too much like capitalism on screen.
As this game can be terminated by a simple majority to stop it, it is first adjourned once nevertheless, all these people, although they understand that others must die for the money, return to continue the game.
