Emmy Nominations 2024 : ‘Shogun’ Leads with 25 Nods as Netflix Tops Networks with 107

Shogun starts the line-up for the 2024 Emmy Nominations 2024 Award nominations that were announced on Wednesday morning. This lineup earned FX’s series 25 nods overall, which included this best drama series nomination and made some history in the process.

Also among the top nominees are FX’s The Bear (with 23 nominations, a comedy series record), Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building (21), HBO/Max’s True Detective: World’s Edge at night (19) and the Netflix series The Crown (18).

With 107 noms in total and across 35 programs, Netflix ranks first, but FX isn’t far behind with 93 noms for nine programs, while HBO extends 91 across 29 and Apple TV+ 72 across 16. Examining the conglomerate totals overall, the FX, ABC, Hulu, Disney Plus and other series and projects involving The Walt Disney Co. received a company- best 183 Emmy Nominations 2024 nods this year.

Tony Hale, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Television Academy chair Cris Abrego introduced the nominees for this year from the El Capitan Theatre, in a live-streamed event. During the live stream, Abrego informed Abbott Elementary star Ralph that she was nominated for another Emmy Nominations 2024 this year for supporting actress in a comedy series, which she won last year.

The 76th Primetime Emmy Nominations 2024 are to take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and stream live on Sunday, September, 15 from 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET to 8 p.m. PT/11 p.m. ET on the ABC network. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards, at which the majority of these awards statuettes are conferred, are scheduled for Saturday, September 7th, and Sunday, September 8th. Although a ceremony host has not yet been announced for the ABC Emmy Nominations 2024, Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay are to return for executive production of the teleplay.

Instead the Emmys of 2023 were held in January 2024 because of the 2023 writers and actors strikes and was broadcast on Monday, 15th January 2024, Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Fox. HBO’s Succession, FX’s The Bear, and Netflix’s Beef were the biggest winners at that event being awarded the best drama series, the best comedy series, and the best limited series, respectively. 

All three shows also took the awards for writing and directing. This year, there is likely to be a new winner since the 2023 Emmys will recognize Succession’s last season.

Submissions had to be Television programmes that were first made available on either the broadcast network, a digital platform or a cable/satellite network between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024 for consideration at the 2024 Emmys.
