Ask Selena Gomez news what she gets out of acting that music has not historically afforded her, and she replies in no uncertain terms: “Sanity.”
It is an incredibly truthful response, which is not all that surprising if you have ever spent even a modicum of time talking to Gomez. The star and producer of The Only Murders in the Building has no time or sympathy for anything that tries to serve up a performance or manufacture glamour or beauty or any of that nonsense: it is an aggressively honest show.
”She is herself, always, and I suppose that’s why her fans cherish her so much,” recalls Wizards of Waverly Place co-star David Henrie, who has often witnessed her share information about her private life such as her fight against lupus, problems with depression and her bipolar disorder diagnosis. ‘It goes like, ‘Oh, I can relate to this.’ ”
But for the foreseeable future, Gomez would rather read in between lines of literally someone else’s creation, something that music has never let her do.
“Acting is just such a rush,” she says of the occupation that initially sparked Gomez and her mother moving from the middle of nowhere Grand Prairie, Texas in the middle of the Oughts. At the same time an early gig on Barney & Friends had provided the stepping stone to an even more substantial part on Wizards, which placed her inside the Disney system then catapulted her outside in a hit pop star.

He could not have been aware of her past with Disney Channel not to mention the 423 million people she follows on Instagram which makes her the most followed person in the world.
However, they first met in a café in New York over the project and it appears that Larsen only knew Gomez through her roles in Spring Breakers and the Woody Allen ‘s A Rainy Day in New York. When asked about how/when he met her he says it was love at first sight. “I loved her sensitivity, her fragility and what she brought out.”
In fact, Gascón didn’t really have a good grasp of her CV either, however, her 13-year-old daughter was a Gomez super-admirer – otherwise known as a Selenator.
